The CASCADE project ran from about 1990 to 2000. It comprised bespoke software design for sonar classification and data extraction, and was trialled in an Oberon-class submarine for potential use on the Collins-class submarines. The system performs sonagram analysis through extraction of harmonics, Doppler processing, Lloyd’s Mirror processing, and matching of extracted parameters to a database of ship sonar signatures.
